iRobot Roomba 694"

The Roomba from iRobot is a budget-friendly robot vacuum that is effective on both floors that are unfinished and low-pile floor carpet. It has a decent suction and can clean up most debris, though it isn't able to handle larger particles such as rice or sand. It also does a good job of cleaning pet hair, but it's not resistant to tangling like the top Roomba models, such as the j7 or I6.

The Roomba is easy to use. It has a trio of buttons on its cover: 'Clean' starts an entire cleaning cycle, 'Dock' puts it back in its charging station, and 'Spot Clean' activates an targeted clean. You can control it via an app for smartphones that lets you schedule cycles, stop/start the cycle and change settings. You can also connect it with smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.

This vacuum is a bit slower than other models, but it is still able to get into the most crevices and corners. It comes with a large bin that makes it easy to empty. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers, which allow you to program the robot to stay out of certain areas, or even stop cleaning completely to stop it from getting stuck.

While it's not the best model in its price range however, it's superior to many other options. The Roborock E4 has a better cleaning capability than the Roomba 694, and it is able to clean both carpets with a low pile and bare. It also has a longer-lasting battery and a more efficient path. It is also more robust, has fewer components that require regular maintenance, and costs less over its life and charges faster than 694.

You may also want to consider other models in the iRobot range, such as the v7 or 981. They're more expensive but they are significantly better than the 694 in terms of cleaning efficiency on both bare and low-pile floors, follow an efficient cleaning path and come with a larger dirt compartment, are faster to charge, can move more easily, and are much easier to pair with smart home devices.

Shark RV1001AE IQ

This self-emptying robot that is budget-friendly does a good job on hard floors as well as carpets with low pile. The combo brush can reach into corners and edges and it automatically increases suction when it spots carpet. It also does an excellent job of cleaning dirt from mid-pile carpet. The IQ has a tiny footprint and has a self-emptying feature. If you want to change the floor's levels or define no-go areas, you'll need to manually reset the map.

The IQ's app comes with advanced mapping and automation features but it's missing no-go zones which are included on iRobot models. The smart-pathing navigation system provides greater maneuverability and its high-pile carpet mode is clean well, but it is prone to get caught up in rug tassels. Additionally, its iHome speaker lets you operate the robot by voice commands.

In our tests, we found that the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively. It was able to remove the majority of hair on floors that were unfinished, and a fair amount on medium-pile rug. It was less effective on shag carpets, as it had a hard time reaching dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It was capable of maneuvering around the legs of chairs and tight spaces as well as the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. It was a little slower on floors that were not paved but it quickly recovered and performed better than the other robots we tried.

The IQ is a better choice for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on a charge, and is more capable of moving itself over obstacles. It also comes with mopping attachments that are able to deal with sticky mess. The iRobot on the other hand feels better constructed and has less components that need maintenance or replacement, incurs less ongoing costs, and can even create virtual no-go zones with its companion application. It can even resume a cleaning session from where it left off if it is unable to recharge its battery prior to having completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice commands, which is a huge benefit for many users.

Eufy 11S

The RoboVac 11S by eufy isn't exactly the most feature-rich robot vacuum available however it offers great cleaning power for an affordable price. This vacuum was made for those who are budget conscious and don't require a complicated mapping system, or even an app, to control it. The robot is capable of running for more than an hour and includes the remote, a cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.

The 11S is slim and sleek with an upper deck of tempered glass that is covered with plastic, which is finished to look like brushed aluminum. It's a nice stylistic different from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more utilitarian and industrial.

In our tests, the eufy11S was very effective in removing larger debris and fine dust on hard floors. It was unable to thoroughly clean medium and high-pile carpets. The device also has a tendency to bump into furniture and other objects in its path however, it is able to detect obstacles with sensors. When it comes across them, it ceases to move and emits an alarm so that you can manually steer it through the obstacle before getting it back to work.

Another great aspect of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust its suction strength to match the floor type and the amount of mess. It's also simple to use the remote to direct the 11S where you want it to go.

If you don't have a lot of furniture in the room you want to vacuum Single Room Mode is an excellent option. The eufy will spend up to 30 minutes cleaning the area it is assigned.

Edge Cleaning is another option that limits the time that is spent on each area to just 20 minutes. This will increase battery life. This option allows the eufy to move in a spiraling manner by cleaning edges and corners.

It also comes with one of the most advanced obstacle avoidance systems. It has a large bin, a long runtime and a quick, bump-free cleanup.

The turbo head is ideal for carpeting that is high-pile and low-pile and the standard powerhead can be used on floors that are unfinished and light rugs. It also features an automatic height adjustment system that allows it to adapt to different types flooring without manual adjustments.
